Getting strong: a practical guide to S&C for physiotherapists and exercise professionals

-- Merv Travers --
Physiotherapists are expected to be experts in exercise prescription and there is an increasing need for effective gym-based rehabilitation. This engaging and evidence-based PowerTalk will deliver a clear blueprint to optimise strength outcomes for your patients. Dr Merv Travers will distil the broad and confusing strength and conditioning literature into a constructive and executable guide for clinicians. Whether your patients are elite athletes or just getting started, this talk is for you.
Merv will emphasise clear take-home messages that will change your practice and bring theoretical information into clinical context by presenting a case study of one of his patients. After this PowerTalk you will have increased knowledge, skills and confidence in prescribing gym-based rehabilitation. Moreover, you should be energised and excited to get your patients in the gym.

Clinical questions answered:
  1. Should I include squatting in my rehab?
  2. Should I prescribe single-leg or double-leg exercises?
  3. How heavy should the weight be?
  4. How many reps and sets?
  5. How long should the rest period be?
  6. How many exercises should be in my programme?
  7. How do I blend strength exercises and other training to optimise outcomes for my patient?
