PowerTalk : Vaginal Weights for Underactive Pelvic Floor
-- Amanda Olson --
Vaginal weights were originally invented In the 1980's as a tool to train proprioception In the pelvic floor muscles. The use of vaginal weights has since expanded and they can be used to train pelvic floor muscle endurance, strength, awareness, and as a means of re-education for the pelvic floor muscles. Their use has been studied In various patient populations including those with urinary incontinence and overactive bladder.
This two hour PowerTalk will present the indications and evidence behind training protocols using vaginal weights for patients with underactive pelvic floor muscle impairments. We will also discuss some case studies.
