-- Annina Schmid --
Sciatica is a common condition that affects up to 40% of people once in their lifetime. For physiotherapists and other musculoskeletal healthcare providers, diagnosing and treating patients with sciatica can be a challenge.
In this PowerTalk, Annina Schmid will provide a summary of the clinical presentation, prognosis and contemporary management for patients with sciatica.
Participants will learn about the heterogenous presentations of sciatica, how to differentiate these clinically and how to target treatments to individual patients.

Course Objectives:
  • To understand the heterogeneity of sciatica and confidently use the terminology of radicular pain, radiculopathy and somatic referred pain in the correct context.
  • To be familiar with the clinical framework for subgrouping different types of spinally referred pain and to use clinical assessment to guide subgrouping.
