Women's Hormonal Health Through The Lifecycle: What do we need to know?
-- Michelle Lyons --
To quote Dr Nieca Goldberg - 'Women are not small men'! Women have different pelvic, orthopaedic, cardiovascular and cognitive healthcare needs, driven by hormonal changes throughout the lifecycle. Oestrogen has over 300 different functions in the female body and has a significant effect on musculoskeletal form and function throughout a woman's life, from puberty to pregnancy/postnatal and peri/post menopause. Bone and tendon effects, arterial stiffness and pelvic health considerations will be addressed in this two hour conversation, including time for discussion, questions and answers.
After attending this Powertalk, attendees will
- Gain an understanding of the changing hormones profiles for females as they progress through puberty to post menopause
- Be aware of the implications on musculoskeletal, vascular, cognitive and pelvic health implications of changing hormone levels throughout the female lifecycle
